Lead Hospitality

Now Is Not the Time for Change—It’s Time to Reinvent

THE IDEA

The pandemic changed how we live and work. Hospitality businesses now have an opportunity to reinvent their teams and operations, creating something entirely new rather than returning to outdated ways of working. Reinvention requires new behaviours, new thinking and a willingness to break with the past. Is your team ready to begin?

One thing I believe we can all agree on is that the past 18 months have forever changed the way we live and work. As much as people talk about things returning to normal, in my view, they never will. Too many factors have changed: the way people think and behave has changed; our business processes and systems have changed; and, in many cases, our entire product offering has changed and adapted to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.

It is particularly important to recognise that the dynamics of our teams have changed, and leaders need to be very aware of this. Hotel leaders cannot assume that things will return to how they were before, and while this may prove challenging for some, many of the directors I speak to are excited by the opportunity to rethink how their teams operate.
