A boy, Fred, aged 14, one video, 13.6 million views on YouTube. The same video has more than 100,000 comments: In fact, the boy has already garnered 50 million views through his 18 videos. Jealous? Not at all; you only have to watch the videos. As Seth Godin points out:
What matters is not “How many”, but “Who”. Just because something is now easy to measure does not mean it is important.
It is tempting to upload that video in the hope of attracting huge traffic figures. Social Media Marketing is presented to us as something magical that generates massive surges of traffic; if that is the case, I do not know whether it is worthwhile. Personally, I believe it is something far more serious.
