Attending the Hotel Distribution and Revenue Management Congress in Buenos Aires

THE IDEA

I will attend the Hotel Distribution and Revenue Management Congress in Buenos Aires to discuss online business opportunities and optimising Revenue Management infrastructure. I will also explore new business opportunities and plan coaching sessions in Buenos Aires and Uruguay.

At the beginning of September, I will be in Buenos Aires, participating in the Hotel Distribution and Yield Management Congress. The event will take place at the Palais de Glace in Buenos Aires, as part of the HOREST trade fair, the first Showcase of Boutique, Luxury and Classic and Gourmet Restaurant Hospitality Culture, promoting and raising awareness of VIP Tourism with the aim of sharing unique experiences inspired by a lifestyle that embraces standards of wellbeing and the pursuit of perfection in the art of living well. In recent times, online markets have been growing at an astonishing pace, with companies exclusively dedicated to selling through B2B and B2C channels, which are set to grow over the next five years. Latin America, not immune to this trend, currently has only the basic tools required to develop this potential. It is easy to see how Europe, the USA and the Middle East have grown in this niche, supported by world-class companies such as Expedia, Travelocity, Transhotel, Tourico Holidays, Orbitz, Travelclick, HotelDo and many others, which have generated an influx of booking traffic for hotels in both primary and secondary destinations. Therefore, online hotel distribution in Latin America is a thriving segment of the tourism industry. The online marketplace is becoming increasingly fast-paced, as are consumers around the world when choosing this destination, raising the following questions: When will e-commerce take off in this vast region? Considering online sales, how can online business opportunities be developed in order to increase profits? Optimising the infrastructure dedicated to Revenue Management and ensuring appropriate visibility are key factors in a vast market with a broad range of opportunities. Those hotels, key players and travel industry stakeholders are rapidly gaining market presence and growth, with clear advantages from using these tools. However, distributing and marketing their product online in this region is no simple task. The Internet is redefining travel distribution, along with a whole range of business-critical issues that represent challenges and obstacles to overcome. The Congress is sponsored by Yield4Hotels, a company specialising in providing Revenue Management, channel management distribution programmes and consulting services to the hotel industry. It will bring together panellists from the companies mentioned above, and we will discuss how to improve market practices, distribution and product pricing in Latin America. This conference will debate topics including:
  • The changing face of online distribution in Latin America.
  • Positioning your company for future growth
  • Assessment and analysis of Latin America based on consumer behaviour versus direct or indirect distribution and sales.
  • The challenges of e-commerce in marketing and sales
  • How to maximise distribution across all online channels
  • Mergers and synergies in the hotel market
  • Market and GDS statistics
  • Online marketing
  • B2C: the Latin American market for Latin America.
  • Revenue Management
On a personal note, aside from the fact that this will be my first trip to Argentina, which I am approaching with tremendous excitement, it will be a pleasure to meet in person some of the people with whom I have so far maintained a digital relationship, as well as to explore new business opportunities for some of the projects I have launched, whether in Hospitality or Destination Marketing. I will also very likely organise some Coaching sessions in Buenos Aires and Uruguay during those days. If so, I will let you know.
