In hospitality, we tend to oversimplify reality. We like to think that the business can be explained through a few key metrics: occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, guest satisfaction. But over the years, one learns something uncomfortable: hotels do not operate as isolated departments, but as complex systems.
A hotel is not Front Office, Revenue, Food & Beverage, or Housekeeping. It is a network of constant interactions between commercial decisions, organisational culture, operations and leadership. When one of these elements shifts, everything else changes. Sometimes visibly. Other times, quietly.
